Careers
Our students will succeed in a much different future from the one we envisioned 10 or 15 years ago. It is our responsibility to prepare all children for success in whatever life path they choose, connecting learning opportunities with future career possibilities. We know that real-life experiences - like community involvement, gaining business knowledge, and hands-on-learning - build better students and life-long citizens.
Goals
- Improve core competencies so students can achieve career/life goals.
- Improve graduation rates.
At Mountain we believe that nature is a powerful teacher. Our beautiful, fenced forest area provides a unique opportunity for students to engage in outdoor learning. Classroom teachers take lessons outside, allowing students to explore, engage in hands-on activities and think creatively in a nature setting. The approach fosters curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
Students at Mountain also benefit from a wide range of learning opportunities that support different interests and strengths. From STEM activities in classrooms to inquiry-based projects in the Library Learning Commons, students are empowered to think critically, collaborate and demonstrate their learning in many different ways.
At Mountain intermediate students are encouraged to develop teamwork, collaboration and social awareness through participating in a variety of intramural sports. These include cross-country, soccer, skittle ball, basketball, and track and field. Involvement in team sports helps students build resilience, practice effective communication and understand the value of hard work and perseverance.
